Workshop shift handover: pass on repair jobs without losing context
A short, repeatable workflow for open repairs, callbacks and parts so the next shift knows what matters straight away.
When a shift ends, a device may await a part, a customer a callback, or a diagnosis may remain unfinished. Without a clear handover, the next shift starts searching instead of working.
Five questions are enough
| Question | Specific note |
|---|---|
| Status? | Diagnosis started; fault narrowed down |
| Missing? | Approval for extra work up to €80 |
| Next action? | Order part, then function test |
| When? | Call back by Wednesday, 3 pm |
| Where? | Device in bay B3; accessories with job |
Keep the points with the job, not in a general group chat.
Five minutes before clocking out
- Filter jobs that cannot finish today.
- Write the next action with verb, object and time.
- Mark a missing approval, part, access or decision as a blocker.
- Make device, accessories and paperwork findable.
- Speak briefly about exceptions; the job note remains the base.
Same core, local checks
Teams may call this Schichtübergabe in Germany and Austria, entrega de turno in Spain, passation de consignes in France, předání směny in Czechia, primopredaja smjene in Croatia, predaja izmene in Slovenia and vardiya devri in Türkiye. The next action must be clear without guesswork; check retention, access and customer-data rules locally. A digital job board helps when the note stays with the job.
Frequently asked questions
Must every job be discussed?
No. Discuss exceptions and risky open jobs; the written status covers the rest.
Do private customer details belong in a handover?
Only when needed for the next action.
