Bonus Réparation: a proof workflow for the repair counter
A practical way for French repair businesses to check eligibility, show the deduction and retain useful evidence.

France’s Bonus Réparation can encourage a customer to choose repair. At the counter, however, it is a workflow: an enquiry is not automatically eligible and a deduction should not rely on a verbal promise. Check the current categories, amounts, conditions and participating repairers through the official QualiRépar programme and the French Ministry’s Bonus Réparation overview.
This is operational guidance, not legal or funding advice. Programme rules and catalogues can change, so check them on the day of intake.
Four checks before a deduction
| Check | Record on the job | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Is the product and intervention currently covered? | product group, fault, planned work | avoids premature promises |
| Is this location eligible for the case? | site and programme status | separates participation from advertising |
| Does the customer understand the balance? | quote, deduction, customer share | makes the price auditable |
| Was the repair completed? | work, parts and functional test | creates a usable record |
Use neutral wording: “We will check whether this job can be considered under the rules in force today.” It protects both the customer and the team from an early amount promise.
Keep one traceable job record
Add a small section to the repair order: programme check, outcome, reason if declined and receipt reference. Put the deduction on its own line in both the quote and closing receipt, then show the remaining customer balance before approval.
For a cancelled or unsuccessful job, record whether repair was impossible, approval was withheld or a condition was not met. Only then close the record using the rules and price agreement that apply at that time.
Treat borders carefully
Bonus Réparation is a French programme. A business in Germany, Austria, Spain, Czechia, Türkiye, Croatia or Slovenia should not present it as a local subsidy. The transferable practice is simpler: document scope, price lines, approval for extra work and the closing test.
Documentation questions
Is a verbal promise enough?
No. Check current eligibility and show both the deduction and remaining balance in the order or quote before work is authorised.
Should the deduction be called a discount?
Use a separate, traceable line. The correct label and evidence depend on the current programme rules and your accounting process.
What if repair is not successful?
Keep the fault, diagnosis, decision and work actually performed together, then close the job under the current rules and agreed scope.
A good support workflow is not a sales phrase. It makes clear what was checked, what the customer pays and why the final record can still be understood later.
